Dental Implant Therapy

At Western CT Periodontics, we provide advanced dental implant treatment to restore missing teeth with a solution that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth. Dental implants are designed to replace the root of a missing tooth and provide a stable foundation for a custom crown.

Our treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation using modern diagnostic technology, including digital intraoral scanning and Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging. These tools allow us to create a detailed 3-dimensional view of the jaw and carefully plan the ideal position for the implant, improving precision and long-term success.

We offer both titanium and ceramic (zirconia) dental implants to accommodate different patient needs and preferences. Titanium implants have a long history of success and excellent strength, while ceramic implants provide a metal-free option with outstanding biocompatibility and a natural tooth-colored appearance.

During the procedure, the implant is gently placed into the jawbone where it will integrate with the surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration. In some cases, bone grafting or gum grafting may be recommended to create the ideal foundation for long-term stability and esthetic results.

After the healing phase, the final restoration is completed by your general dentist, who places the custom abutment and crown. This collaborative approach allows us to combine specialized surgical care with restorative expertise, resulting in a natural-looking and functional tooth replacement.

Dental implants are one of the most predictable and long-lasting solutions available for replacing missing teeth and restoring both oral health and confidence.

Understanding Your Dental Implant Components

The Implant-Supported Crown: The implant-supported crown is the visible, tooth-like part of your dental implant restoration. Custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, this crown is securely cemented or screwed onto the abutment, completing your new, functional, and esthetic tooth.

The Dental Implant Abutment: Once the implant fixture has fully healed and fused with your jawbone, a small connector piece called an abutment is attached to it. The abutment extends through the gum line and acts as a base upon which your new custom-made crown will be placed. It ensures a secure and precise fit for your final restoration.

The Dental Implant Fixture: Think of the implant fixture as the new “root” of your tooth. It’s a small, screw-shaped post, typically made of titanium or zirconia, that is surgically placed into your jawbone. This fixture serves as the stable anchor for your new tooth, mimicking the natural root it replaces.abutment, completing your new, functional, and esthetic tooth.
